Random Veg Stuff

August 28, 2008

I’m going to try to make some treats for Floyd and Lucy. I found this awesome website that lists a bunch of vegan dog treats called Yummy for Dogs. Joey, my nephew, will help me bake the biscuits. I think it’ll be fun.

Speaking of veg stuff, check out this post >>

Update: Here’s a photo from today. Joey is making vegan dog treats.

I saw a photo of your dog (I believe it was Lucy) in an IPOD costume… it was so cute! I had to come ask if Lucy is a bichon? In the shot I saw, she looked exactly like Professor (our bichon)!!

Good luck with making the treats! It does sound like fun!

I love when pets have people names. Our next door neighbor dog is also Lucy. Part pit bull and I don’t know what else. Adorable black patch around one eye. She barks at passerbyes, but she knows us and crouches for a forehead scratch as soon as we come out of the door.

Tracy - It was Floyd, actually. He’s not a bichon, he’s a Rocky Mountain Spotted Sheepdog.
    I kid :)
He’s a mix, probably a bichon-poo or something like that. He’s a fabulous doggy who came from the county animal shelter. If you’re looking for a dog, please adopt a dog from the pound. Don’t buy one from the pet store or a breeder.

Oh I always make my boys treats! They LOVE them! I’ve used a few recipes on the Yummy for Dogs website, but started creating my own recipes instead. My boys are very happy because weekly I make a new batch (they are both 75 lb dogs so treats go fast) and I have been making a new kind (my own) each week! Turns out it is just as fun to create recipes for dogs as it is for yourself…perhaps moreso because you get the big smiles and wagging tails too!!

looks like Joey and crew are all having fun. So, did the dogs like the treats? Funny, I recognize 3 of the products (as things I carry) on the counter….Energy Egg Replacer, Plantation Molasses and is it a Fearn product? Looks like wheat germ.

Dogs loved the treats. The great thing about cooking dog treats is the dogs don’t care about how perfect they look. And they don’t even care too much about taste, either. They’re not too picky. I tried the treats we made and though they smelled good, they tasted rather bland :)

Don’t worry… I totally agree with you! We got Professor from Animal Control. I also got my cat from a local rescue group, Lucky Cats. Our other dog came from a person who paid ungodly amounts of money for her and then decided she couldn’t handle her less than 6 months later. I would never “buy” a dog but I’m glad we got her because she is a sweetie pie too!
I have a post of Professor before and after on my blog if you are interested. We’ve had him coming up on a year now:

    I think it’s the second one down…

Got something to say?
