Obama’s New Family Member? Needy Dogs in DC:

Here are a few dogs available for adoption from rescue groups and shelters in the DC area. They’re all shown online at petfinder.com, a resource for people searching for an animal companion. Petfinder only lists animals from rescues and shelters, not from pet stores or breeders.

One of these dogs might be appropriate for the Obamas.

Name: Chelsea
Breed: Lab mix
Approximate Age: 1-2 yrs
Approximate Weight: About 40 lbs

Chelsea is an energetic pup who wants more than anything to please. She is very playful, is great with kids, and super with other dogs.

Name: Muffin
Breed: shelti/shih tzu
Approximate Age: about 1 year
Approximate Weight: 20lbs

Look at this sweet little dog! Muffin is a 1 yr old 20 lb sheltie/shih tzu mix. She is just the cutest, sweetest dog ever! Muffin needs a family to love her. She is starved for affection and kindness.

Muffin looks a lot lke Floyd looked when we adopted him. He was shy and nervous and dirty in the back of the kennel. After a month or so he came out of his shell and now he’s such a snuggly, loving pooch.

Breed: Italian Greyhound Mix
Approximate Age: 7 months
Approximate Weight:15 lbs

Pacino desperately needs some love! He was very scared at the shelter. He needs a family to show him that life is good. He would be so happy if he could go for walks and sit in someone’s lap! Pacino loves other dogs too, He would do really well in an existing canine family. He is also ok with cats!

Breed: Beagle
Approximate Age: 1 yr
Approximate Weight: 20 lbs

Meet Snuggles! Isn’t he soooo cute? He is a 20 lb, 1 yr old beagle that is stuck in a high kill shelter. The shelter got him when a puppy mill was raided. Poor Snuggles has gone from one bad living situation to another! Despite his rough beginnings, Snuggles is an AWESOME dog! He is super affectionate. He just loves people, and he does particularly well with children. Snuggles is also great with other animals. Specifically, he is good with with dogs and cats. He is quite the social butterfly and will be a big hit at the dog park!
