Yes We Can Give Hope To The Homeless (Pets)

November 10, 2008

Well put:

“whether it’s possible for any family—presidential or otherwise—to balance their desire for a shelter dog with a child’s allergies. My answer: ‘Yes we can!’

“First, adopting a purebred is easy. One of every four dogs in U.S. animal shelters is a purebred. If a family wants a particular type of dog, such as a breed that might produce fewer reactions in people who suffer from allergies, the local animal shelter should be the first stop.

“There are also purebred rescue groups that specialize in particular breeds of dogs, keeping abandoned, rejected, or stray purebreds until they can be placed in loving, permanent homes. And online resources like Pets911.com and Petfinder.com allow people to search for specific breeds in need of adoption.”

PS - Word on the street is that Biden is going to get a dog, too. He wants a big dog. (source) Therefore, I have more petfinder browsing to do. Here are some adoptable dogs:

This is Brunetta. She’d be a good fit for Biden because she’s a Mastiff mix. Here’s what her rescuers say:

Brunetta is a 9 week old female Mastiff mix puppy. Her mother is a mastiff and we believe her dad was a lab / mastiff mix. She’ll be a large adult dog. Brunetta’s mom was brought to the shelter as an abuse case. She was very neglected and severely thin. What a surprise it was to find a newborn puppy next to her one morning! Brunetta is the only puppy in her litter and she is doing great.

This is Missy. She’s a Great Dane Boxer mix. She’ll be a big dog. Go here to read more >>
