Sue Them

Mary Martin had a bad experience:

“a waiter told me the pumpkin soup was vegan and it wasn’t (and I proceeded to have to flee toward the ladies room after a mere 10 minutes of its consumption, as I’m sure it included cream made from cow’s milk, and, well . . . ), and in fact he told me the entire meal was vegan, but the next course was grilled chicken and warmed goat cheese over mesclun greens.”

I’ve worked as a food server. My sister has worked as a food server. I have known many food servers. Plenty lie.

I tend to take the word of my food server because I tend to want to trust people. And I’m saddened and annoyed when I’m lied to. Usually I just suck it up, maybe write a bad review, and move on. I haven’t sued anyone… yet. But when food servers deliberately lie about the food, you can and probably should sue.

Just my opinion. Granted, that’s an opinion formed from a year of law school (I’m a law school dropout). But there it is.

Veganism Is Becoming Mainstream

From Newsweek:

“Many people see this movement as a logical continuation of the fight against racism and sexism, and believe that the concept of animal rights will soon be as commonplace as equal pay and opportunities for women and minorities. If that happens—and I believe it will—the effects on the food we eat, how we produce it and the place of animals in our society will be profound.”

“If this sounds radical, so did suffrage and civil rights a few decades ago. The notion that we should recognize the rights of animals living among us rests on a firm ethical foundation. A sentient being is sentient regardless of which species it happens to belong to. Pain is pain, whether it is the pain of a cat, a dog, a pig or a child.”

Rise Against

November 18, 2008 | 1 Comment

I went to a Rise Against concert instead of an election party.
And then I left before they played their show.
I didn’t go to see them. I went to see the openers. Actually, I went because Ed wanted to see the openers.
Anyway, now I learn Rise Against are vegan. Neat.

Go Vegan For Thanksgiving

November 16, 2008 | 1 Comment

Turkeys are excluded from the Humane Slaughter Act. That should tell you enough to deduce that turkeys are CRUELLY killed for Thanksgiving dinners. If you have any conscience at all, go vegan for Thanksgiving.
